Soil science terminology

In toponymy, one of the hypotheses explains the name of Brazil because of the red color of the lateritic soil, which was discovered by Portuguese sailors and colonists. Bright red paint was called "braza" (Uspensky, 1967). On the geographical map, the names “Dora”, “Doroni” have been preserved, there are also the names of the Doronins, Dorkins. In the old Russian language, the word "dor" meant arable land recently cleared of the forest, clearing. “Dorki” long ago meant a village built on virgin lands reclaimed from the forest, on patches of arable land cut into the forests...
