Territorial peculiarities of Russian modernization

The paper explains the necessity of regional modernization in Russia as an integral part of national modernization. It highlights the contradictions of the modernization process in the Russian regions and identifies the obstacles and constraints to its implementation. It has been found that modernization in various regions is extremely uneven and asynchronous, and inter-regional gaps are very wide, even among neighboring territories. One of the priorities of regional policy should be creating favorable conditions for extended cooperation and integration of the regions based on the most efficient use of existing modernization potential.
