Urgent challenges in fighting against religious extremism

The author explored in the present paper the factors giving rise to religious extremism in society and its spreading round the community. The study revealed the intention of the concept of religious extremism. The paper has given special attention to the issues of countering religious extremism on the part of law enforcement bodies. Multiple factors have concurred with the main reasons and circumstances that gave birth to religious extremism in our country, as follows: social and economic crises, high rate of unemployment, a relaxed functioning of State authorities and law enforcement bodies urged to prevent social extremism in educational institutions, a drastic decline in the living standards for the majority of the population, cultural decline and decrease of the attainment’ standards of learning in youngsters. The law enforcement bodies have recently established multiple units in their framework, in order to counter religious extremism and prevent spreading of religious extremist ideas. In addition to, active advocacy for spiritual and moral values and traditions of our ethnic cultural communities may be one of the efficient practices in countering the spreading of religious extremism.
