Depending on typical investigative situations occurring at the initial and subsequent stages of crime investigation, model versions are put forward concerning the location of evidential information, alleged criminal, motives and purposes of the crime and other circumstances of the past event, in accordance with which further investigation is planned. The paper focuses on the analysis of typical investigative situations of the initial stage of the investigation into murders connected to arson; the correct assessment of these crimes contributes to the completeness of the versions, determination of the correct direction of criminal investigation.
