The typology of neologisms in modern Germanic languages is presented in the article. 13 types of new lexical units are identified, namely: the characteristics of a person and his external data; information technologies, television and mass media; tourism; crime; policy; finance; shopping; fashion trends; social phenomena, states, trends; food, restaurants; new unusual names of ordinary objects, phenomena; medicine; job. The evaluation of neologisms is given, as well as the reasons for their appearance and fixation in modern speech.
