The article explains the introduction of a new term «family consciousness». The typology of family consciousness is considered, it has been derived from the study of the Russian and Belarusian students. The traditional, egalitarian, and mosaic types of family consciousness are described and empirically grounded. The specificity of the mosaic type of family consciousness is substantiated.
