Typical semantic situations of the system of “polysituational economic verbs with a non-commercial adject” in English

Бесплатный доступ

The research work is devoted to verbal semantics. The meaning of “polysituational” verbs is characterized by a correlation between several simple situations within which actants identify certain specific types of relations. The article deals with the notion of “adject”. It is a specific actant which serves as a mediator between the subject and the object of an action, the principle actants of a verbal situation. An “economic non-commercial” adject has a certain material value, but it does not imply its potential interchange into another adject. On the basis of the statistic method of the cluster analysis eight typical situations are revealed, the semantic structure of which is based upon 38 relevant semantic features characterized by three degrees of semantic significance.
