The article is an essay on the history of the Tobolsk Women’s eparchial School in the 1890s — early 20th century. The Tobolsk Women’s Theological School, founded in 1866, was transformed into a women’s diocesan school in 1880. Initially it functioned as a three-grade, and after 1887 it was expanded into a full sixth-grade. A preparatory class and an exemplary elementary school were opened at the school, which serves as a place of pedagogical practice for high school students. In 1908, an additional 7th (pedagogical) class was opened at the school, as well as the “Society for Assistance to Needy Pupils of the Tobolsk Diocesan Women’s School”. In 1920, the school ceased to exist. As sources in the study, both previously unpublished archival documents and materials published in the Church periodicals of that time were used. The study seems relevant, since there are currently no special works devoted to this topic.
