One of the pages of the Middle Volga region history is connected with the name of Tokhtamysh Khan - the last powerful ruler of the Golden Horde. In 1391 at the river Kondurcha, which flows through the territory of present-day Samara region, there was a great battle between the troops of Tokhtamysh and Tamerlan, one of the greatest military leaders of the Middle Ages. The representatives of all the peoples of the Volga region took part in it. The battle became the starting point of the Golden Horde downfall, and that is subject matter of the article.
