Topographic plans, maps and their role in the modern topography

The article deals with revealing the basic aims of the realization of the topographic surveys. There is conducted the comparison of the different methods of the survey, there are reveled the advantages of the use of the modern technologies. The author defines the role of the large-scale topographic maps and plans in solving the different tasks in the sphere of geodesy and mapping.
