The paper made a review of trends in visual cast solutions for several Russian movies having their first screening in the recent years. The study examined quest of style, visual cast solutions, and specified their relation to figurative traditions of classics in Russian movie making. The paper considered in details some approaches to visual cast solutions in the films «The Only War» (Director-Vera Glagoleva), «Petya on the Way to Rest in Heaven» (Director N. Dostal''), «Miracle» (Director A. Proshkin), «Bury Me Behind the Wall Base» (Director S. Snezhkin), «My Standing on the Brink» (Director R. Kubaev). The study observed new trends in visual cast solutions of the items-in-space’ scene of the movies, and singled out traditional approaches to solving visual forms. The author marked out a tendency to classics in approaches the Russian film makers have demonstrated in arranging the artistic scene of a movie in the XXI century. The materials under consideration of this study have not been yet explored, being newly presented and being of interest to movie-make practitioners, for academic and conceptual researchers, for students majored in movie making, for amateurs and fans of motion-picture art.
