Traditional culture as a priority in the strategy of the regional cultural policy of the Republic of Dagestan

The author believes that the extending influence of Arab-Muslim culture on the North Caucasian region of Russia is followed by strengthening of religious identity of the population. Radical religious influence crushes many links of the traditional culture of the Dagestan autochthons, Islamization of the Dagestan society acts as a threat to the cultural traditions of the republic. In the context of the modern transformations of Dagestan it is essential to develop a strategy of the regional cultural policy focused on the preservation of the Dagestan traditional culture and its various forms of heritage.
