Traditional culture of northern horse breeders in the contemporary art of Yakutia(on the example of paintings by A. N. Osipov)

The article analyzes the works of the Yakut painter AfanasiyOsipov, whose work combines the Russian realistic school with the original worldview of the heir to the unique culture of northern horse breeders. A special place in the art of the painter is the theme of horse breeding. The horse was not simply the main link of the Yakut economy from ancient times; its image played a special role in culture. In the people»s worldview, being the main measure of beauty, strength, the horse was the object of inspired worship. Images of Osipov»s paintings arise on the basis of traditions that were formed on the basis of the culture of ancient Turkic-Mongolian nomads, having absorbed some aspects of the cultures of nearby ethnic groups.
