Transformation of the ethnic policy of the authorities in the post-Soviet countries: forms, trends, and dynamics

The article deals with the problem of ethnic policy of the authorities of the former Soviet area. The author declared commitment to European standards in traditional approaches to solving ethno-political problems. The authorities try to find ways to overcome the imbalance status in a multicultural society. The ambition of the titular nation becomes a factor exacerbating ethno-political situation in the country, the fragmentation of responsibility of the authorities in reducing ethnic tensions and migratory behavior of non-indigenous ethnic groups. Transformation in the ethnic policy is an evidence of advances in strengthening the principles of humanism in opposition to the conservative nationalism.
