Transformation of the concepts of public sphere and public space in the urban culture

The article deals with such phenomena as "public sphere" and "public space". In particular, the author believes that conventional studies of these categories based on the dichotomy "private - public" are not quite relevant today. These concepts become the basis for the pessimistic conclusions about the extinction of public sphere in the contemporary urban culture. However, the actual processes that characterize social life in cities remain without due consideration. The author discusses political and social concepts in the public spheres, as well as analyses the impact of mobility on the correlation of public and private spheres in the modern city life.
