Transformation of the image of Russia in the modern polish periodicals

Бесплатный доступ

In modern Poland, the press has become the main channel of building up the image of Russia. Russian discourse is being rather slowly updated with new symbols, signs and unifying ideas. This is partly due to the fact that the current set of stereotypes about Russia is important for Polish society as an element of its own identity. Representation of modern Russia in the Polish press is quite scant - journalistic rhetoric is largely based on a very limited set of topoi. However, as noted in the article, in recent years there has been deformation of topoi, as well as their superposition on each other, the set of connotations typical of them has been changing, their diversity has been reducing. At the same time, there is a trend towards Russia’s image depersonalization - it is simultaneously becoming less variable and negative. Renunciation of deep and structured perception means that the information warfare has gone quite far and the propaganda influences the deepest level, where persistent stereotypes and emotional memory of society arise or transform.
