The essence of the globalisation processes and their influence on the modern legal policy of a national state. The chracteristic features of the globalisation that were reflected in the legal life are singled out. Special attention is paid to the main direction of globalisation''s influence on the law development and its theory, to the issues of law universalisation int he context of globalisation. The problems of correlation of globalisation and state sovereignty are singled out and possible directions of Russian legal system development under the present-day conditions are discussed. A conclusion is made that the a national state as a social and political institution of the society, being expected to express the will of the society''s members, should prioritise the defence of national interests on the international stage and aim efforts at state sovereignty reinforcement, at the same time performing unconditionally the generally accepted principles and norms of the international law.
