Transformation of social identity in the crisis state of postmodern society and culture

The article deals with the problem of social identity that manifested itself most acutely after the collapse of the Soviet Union and is connected with the need to make a choice in the modern globalizing world. It is noted that the identity crisis has led not only to the destruction of the old social and political structures, but also caused the changes in the sphere of culture. The author defines the main features of postmodernism in the context of the social identity formation (the loss of the national idea and memory of the historical past, and so on).
