This article clarifies mechanisms of transformation of Adyghe’s traditional culture during the Soviet period. At that time the natural acculturation processes were supported by purposeful reforms (social, ideological, etc.), which has led to almost complete extinction of ancient Adyghe traditions so far, as well as to the spread of Adyghe-Russian bilingualism among the Adyghe.
