Over the years of the formation and development of agriculture in the Kola region, it has undergone many transformational changes associated both with internal changes in the economy, politics, government structure of the country, the change of several generations, and with external geopolitical factors to which it is necessary to adapt. There were many ups, accompanied by scientific breakthroughs and victories, the growth of agricultural production and the achievement of almost complete self-sufficiency in products (meat, milk, eggs, fish) own production, despite unfavorable climatic conditions for agricultural production. However, over the 90-year period of its existence, the agriculture of the Murmansk region has experienced significant declines. The subject of the research is the processes of development and changes in Arctic region agriculture as a complex of socio-economic system. The article examines the history of the development of agriculture in the Murmansk region from the first agricultural experiments to the present day, lists the main agricultural enterprises that have contributed to the formation and significant contribution to the agriculture development in the region. The analysis and evaluation of the results of the agricultural activities of the Arctic region at the turn of its 90-year development are carried out. The transformational aspects of the development of agriculture in the Arctic region and their characteristics are highlighted. The main directions of agricultural development are determined, taking into account the current state in modern conditions.
