Transboundary region versus transconflict region: general and special in the management of territorial boundaries

Introduction. The article explores the phenomenon of the transconflict region from the point of view of its correspondence with a phenomenon similar to it, such as a transboundary region. Methods. The task of operationalizing the concept of a transconflict region is being solved. Through the prism of regionalization and globalization, the specific potential of the border is explored. Identified common and special features of both regions in terms of territorial, historical, functional and political characteristics. Results. In the article one of the most important characteristics of the borders is analyzed: barrier and contactness. The peculiarities of the functioning of the transboundary region (with the current conflict) as a specific territory and the presence of irredentist potential in the frontier zone are analyzed. Conclusions. The introduction of the concept of a transconflict region into the management discourse confirms the existence of a regional education with increased conflict.
