The transformation of the paradigm of economic foundations and priorities of economic development from the traditional market economy paradigm to considering the environmental factor of economic activity and the impact of scientific and technological development on the content and results of economic activity required a revision of the theoretical foundations of economic management and priorities, requirements for its development at all levels of the economic system. It is necessary to identify current trends in sustainable development, its measurement and evaluation for the purposes of responsible investment and reducing the level of threats to economic security at the national and local levels. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the areas of sustainable development that are relevant for Russian regional economic systems and the correlation of sustainable development with digitalization and interregional integration processes that affect the country’s economic security. The main results obtained by the author as a result of the work include: trends of the economic development triad were identified and systematized, including trends in sustainable development, digitalization and external factors that determine new threats to economic security; the content of the life cycle of the regional economy is determined under the influence of global trends of globalization, integration and economic security; a correlation matrix has been built between the previously defined triad of regional economic development with the priority of implementing measures to digitalize the economy, taking into account current trends in sustainable development and new threats to economic security.
