The paper considers the positions of the concerned parties (U.S.A., USSR, UK, Italy and Yugoslavia) in the settlement of the Trieste conflict at the end of World War II. Territorial issues are generally the most pressing and intractable, creating a source of tension in relations between the states. The question of Trieste was resolved successfully, therefore, the study of this problem can be useful in resolving other territorial disputes.
