This paper is devoted to the analysis of the difficulties of parsing sentences in the ancient Chinese language. Of the seven varieties of parsing, parsing was selected at the level of phrases from small (individual tokens) to large (subject and predicate groups) as optimal. Using this method, the analysis of such phenomena complicating the syntactic structure of sentences as 1) introducing various types of parallel phrases into a sentence; 2) the expression of the global subject and (or) the predicate by the predicative phrase, giving the sentence a pronounced topical structure; 3) the expression of the topic and (or) the comment by a tightly coupled sentence; 4) the inclusion in the proposal of complex sentences. It is emphasized that the correct syntactic analysis of sentences of the ancient Chinese language is a necessary condition for their competent translation.
