Problems of preserving labour potential in Russia

The article presents the qualitative assessment of Russia’s labour potential, based on the official statistics. It identifies the major factors that contribute to labour potential development and deterioration. The authors highlight the dynamics of labour potential quality in the Vologda Oblast, and they analyse its components. The research has shown that the necessary conditions for preserving the quality of the region’s labour potential include the maintenance of positive trends in health, the development of population’s intellectual potential, poverty alleviation, transformation of employment institutions.
