In November 1974, Metropolitan Nikodim of Leningrad and Novgorod handed out a five-volume collection of his works to the library of the Leningrad Theological Schools. The Council of the Theological Academy, under the chairmanship of the rector of Bishop Meliton (Solovyov), recognized these works as deserving of examination as a thesis for a doctorate in theology. As reviewers were appointed Honored Professor Archpriest Mikhail Speransky and N. D. Uspensky. Their reviews were presented on February 6, 1975 at a meeting of the Academy Council chaired by the new rector archimandrite Cyril (Gundyaev), now Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. Following the discussion, the Council honored Metropolitan Nikodim with his doctorate in Theology. Patriarch Pimen (Izvekov) approved this decision on February 10. This publication provides feedback from reviewers who have survived in the Journal of the Council of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary for the 1974-1975 school year.
