The study reveals the essence of the problematic issues related to the situation on the Korean Peninsula, analyzes the contradictions between the two Korean states and between other powers of North-East Asia, as well as Russia and the United States. The reasons leading to the expansion of the Korean crisis in recent years are characterized. The conclusion is that the turbulence of contemporary international relations will only increase in the future, since the negative trends of world politics, such as the arms race, the domination of force methods in world politics instead of diplomatic negotiations, hybrid information wars, open provocations, are emerging now (on the example of military exercises conducting by the US and South Korea to demonstrate their strength and power near the borders of the DPRK). The Korean peninsula will continue to remain an important strategic region in the future, which in a latent phase contains many geopolitical challenges and problems, and only the efforts of the international community and the main players in international relations will determine their successful resolution.
