Tourism and recreational opportunities of Sakhalin and the Kuril islands

The article discusses the tourist and recreational resources of the Sakhalin region, which include natural and climatic, historical, cultural and socio-economic objects and phenomena. The Sakhalin Region has significant potential and resources to increase its attractiveness for tourists, first of all, it is the uniqueness of nature, the diversity and specificity of landscapes, the presence of rare monuments of nature, history and culture. However, in order to use them in full, measures are needed to improve the organization of the tourism business in the Region. For this purpose, the program "Development of domestic and inbound tourism in the Sakhalin region in 2017-2022" has been developed, which defines the priority areas of regional policy in the field of tourism. The article can serve as a basis for the development of guidelines for organizing educational tourist excursions.
