Tourism as a phenomenon of the postmodern epoch

This article deals with the basic characteristics and contradictions of tourism as a postmodern phenomenon. The tourism’s role in the current society is extremely important: in addition to the fact that the tourism is a form of leisure, it also is an indicator of the social status, a method of identity constructing, and it performs certain existential functions as well.
