Tourism as a cultural bridge: the role of intercultural communication in fostering a multicultural society

Бесплатный доступ

This paper explores the role of intercultural communication in fostering a harmonious multicultural society amid globalization. It analyzes the theoretical link between tourism and intercultural dialogue, addressing both positive outcomes (cultural exchange, tolerance, mutual understanding) and challenges (cultural appropriation, stereotyping). Case studies of volunteer and community-based tourism illustrate how tourism can break down cultural barriers and promote respect. Recommendations for enhancing culture in tourism include specialized staff training, integrating cultural elements into tourism offerings, and establishing international knowledgesharing platforms. The authors conclude that strategically developing intercultural communication in tourism enriches traveler experiences and helps build a sustainable, open society founded on mutual respect and cooperation.
