Are the tourism and urbanization the sides of overtourism?

The article proposes a conceptual approach to the analysis of overtourism in urban areas based on the spatio-temporal approach. The situation of overtourism is seen as the result of the mutual influence of tourism and urbanization. The authors analyze existing approaches to the definition of overtourism. Based on the analysis of world development trends in overtourism in cities and experience in solving problems arising in this connection, the authors draw a conclusion about the situational nature of the reaction of the city administration to the negative consequences of overtourism. The expediency of applying the methods of the spatial-temporal approach to study and prevent the negative phenomena of overtourism in urban areas is proved. The authors give an analysis of the current situation of the tourism industry in the cities of the Republic of Tatarstan, and propose approaches to the development of an advanced strategy to preventing the situation of overtourism through the example of Kazan city.
