Tourism in the context of regional development

This article examines tourism as a means of regional development. The article defines the concept of “tourist destination”. The impact of tourism on the economy, ecology and socio-cultural aspects in the context of the development of the region is also considered. The article highlights the local embeddedness of the destination and highlights the importance of collaboration between different sectors. The role of tourism destination management for the sustainable development of the region and destination is studied.
