Tourism in the socio-economic development of the Republic of Dagestan

The purpose of the article is to analyze the main aspects of the implementation of the tourist potential of the Republic of Dagestan as a key priority for the development of the region. The research methodology is logical and economic-mathematical methods, correlation analysis of a number of statistical indicators. The study assessed the region's tourism potential by determining its attractiveness and capacity, analyzed the effectiveness of its implementation by determining the degree of utilisation of production capacities in the tourism industry, and identified its implementations. The results of the study revealed a low level of development of the region’s tourist attractiveness; the number of collective accommodation facilities is characterized by a critically low value and excessive congestion. There is no correlation between the formation of the region’s own taxes and the income indicators of collective accommodation facilities from the services provided, despite the fact that the volume of paid tourist services plays a significant role in the context of the formation of the region’s own tax revenues. It is advisable to support services aimed at servicing tourists and the growing needs of the local population throughout the republic. Practical implementation of the designated recommendations will allow for the formation of a stable trend in the development of tourism in the Republic of Dagestan and guarantee the most effective and complete implementation of the region's tourism potential.
