The article dwells upon the problem of creative unions in the Middle Volga region in the post-war years (1946-1953). The author deals with this issue on the example of four basic groups of artistic intelligentsia: theatre workers; writers' unions - poets, dramatists, publicists and journalists; artists (visual arts); composers' unions and musical collectives, i.e. philharmonic societies, folk choirs, etc.
