The article analyzes the novel by the Buryat writer V. Mitypov «The valley of immortelles» written in Russian from the point of view of a boundary esthetics. Cultural situations of «the person of border» and the writer who is in creative crisis between different cultural, language, vital codes are compared. This situation «between» allows to call it «the boundary subject». The hero of the novel by V. Mitypov stays being able temporary, spatial «mixtures», suffers inevitability of return to certain cultural ghosts and constants of the former, in many respects lost or forgotten life. The beginning of this crisis is the impossibility of self-identification strengthened by falling away from «house», native culture. The text becomes a certain symbolical territory, «clamp» between «their» and «foreign», past and present; and the author is in the point of their intersection.
