Creativity of Konstantin Makovsky in the context of the development of realistic art of the XIX century

In this article, the creativity of the outstanding artist-traitor Konstantin Makovsky is considered in the context of realistic trends in Russian art of the second half. XIX century, which amounted to a whole era in the development of Russian pre-revolutionary culture. Deeply national, ideological and truthful, imbued with the spirit of democracy and humanity, it has received worldwide recognition.
