The article is devoted to the influence of Soviet culture on the formation of Alexander Pushkin’s image in M.A. Bulgakov’s play Alexander Pushkin, and also devoted to analysis of the theme of the artist’s immortality in his works of the 1930s. Bulgakov used the image of Pushkin’s statue in this play, a symbol of one of the most important anniversaries in the Soviet culture - Pushkin’s anniversary in 1937. Bulgakov mentions statues of artists to show their real immortality in his works of the 1930s. He sought to portray Pushkin as an immortal artist in a cyclical mythological plot, and also in the hierarchical structure of the system of characters that is specific in the Soviet culture of the 1930s.
