The purpose of this paper is to give a comparative and informative overview of the works of a prominent Soviet economist, mathematician and statistician, E. E. Slutsky. In his research, the author applied the methods of historical-chronological, problem-based, and system analysis. The author touches on elements of Slutsky’s biography and draws attention to the complex historical conditions in which his works were created. The author draws attention to the fact that already in the pre-revolutionary period, E. E. Slutsky achieved significant success, in particular, he was a popularizer of the use of mathematical and statistical methods in economic research, applying them to the study of supply and demand. As a result of the work, the author comes to the conclusion that the early works of E. E. Slutsky were not sufficiently well-known, which led to the fact that many of Slutsky’s ideas were later implemented as a scientific result of the works of J. E. Slutsky. Hicks. The results of the research can be used in economic, historical and mathematical research, taken into account in the compilation of anthologies, anthologies of world economic thought.
