Participation of the population in the work of educational societies as an integral part of the socio cultural context in the life of a rear city during the First World War (the research is based on Middle Volga documents)

On materials of the Volga cities considered the specifics of activities of educational societies in the First World War. Revealed that their works ensure cognitive leisure for the general citizens, as well as the possibility of self-realization for the benefit of people living in urban centers
