Participation of the USSR in the repartition of spheres of influence during the formation of the bipolar international relations system (1945-1964)

The USSR foreign-policy course has been considered in the article from the viewpoint of struggle of the two its driving starting points: political pragmatism and official ideology influence. As a result, the outcome of the Soviet diplomacy activity during the period of 1945-1964 is quite contradictory: on the one hand it contributed to strengthening the Soviet positions and expansion of spheres of influence in the world but on the other hand it could not overcome the confrontation with the West which considerably conditioned the further growth of international tension.
