The study discusses the historical background to the women’s movement in Egypt. The research shows the political engagement of women in the Egyptian Revolution of 1919. The relevance of the problem is determined by both the intensified feminism and the increased female factor in the modern world politics. Egyptian women took part in anti-British national liberation struggle for the first time and set an example of courage and dedication for the rest of the Arab East. They were women with a high level of political awareness and education. The author shows the motives for women’s participation in the revolution and their key role in the historical period under review. The Egyptian Revolution of 1919 contributed to the emancipation of women, the development of their fundamentally new political awareness, and the establishment of the first female political organization.
