Study of atoms and great elements in the treatise Abhidharma-Kosa

The article of S. B. Berezhnoy deals with interpretation of the study of atoms (paramänavas) and great elements (mahäbhütäni) in terms of Sarvastivadadharmas theory, which is given in the treatise of the great Buddhist sophist Vasubandhu (IV-V A.C.) The article analyzes the meaning of basic terms, representing atomic theory of Sravastivada and early Buddhism in general. Relying on the Sanskrit text of the treatise Abhidharma-kosa as well as critical view of the texts of the greatest Buddhist experts of the 20 th century the author interprets the study of atoms and great elements, given in the treatise Abhidharma-kosa.
