Does sand martin "take into account" the spatial orientation of sections of the coast of the river Abakan when choosing a place to build nests?

The results of testing the hypothesis about the presence of preferences of Riparia sp. plots of the Abakan River when choosing sites for nesting are discussed. The orientation of the colonies in space was considered. It was found that out of 56 % of the holes were oriented to the sunny side, 22 % of the exits were covered only in the morning or evening hours of the day and 22 % of the holes turned out with exits to the shadow side. Probably, the orientation of the outlets from the burrows is connected with the optimization of the microclimate in the nests of birds.
