Specific department and tar distillation field in European north of Russia in second half of XIX - beginning of XX century

The article deals with the influence of legislative and organizational measures of the Specific Department on the development of the peasant tar distillation field in Archangelsk and Vologda Provinces. Ample characteristics of the condition of the fields in the crown lands of European North of Russia are given. Vast characteristic features of the field are considered in connection with the tar distillation emergence and specificity of its development.
