Criminal liability for crimes of corruption: a survey of recent changes in the Сriminal Сode of the Russian Federation

Introduction: the article is focused on legal analysis of the amendments enshrined in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation by the Federal Law dated 03.07.2016 № 324-FL "On amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and the Criminal Procedural Code of the Russian Federation" providing penalty enhancement for crimes of corruption. Materials and Methods: the methodology of the study is general scientific methods of cognition, as well as specially scientific: dialectical, formal logical, comparative-legal, systemic-structural and other methods of analysis of the studied phenomena. Results: the article describes the changes and additions to the norms of the Criminal Law providing for criminal liability for committing corruption-related crimes, investigated the opinions of scholars concerning these stories expressed position on existing issues. Discussion and Conclusions: proposals for the addition of sanctions of the Articles under consideration with the main alternative and an additional penalty of deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities introduced and justified.
