Criminal procedure documents as a form of expression of the ongoing investigation: concept, signs, classification

Introduction: the paper highlights in detail the various approaches available in the theory of criminal procedure law to the definitions of "document", "criminal procedure document". The question of the existing classification of criminal procedural documents which in the course of the study was subjected to the author's revision is considered. The main features inherent in criminal procedural documents which are the procedural form of expression of the ongoing investigation are identified and analyzed. Materials and Methods: the methodological basis of the study was the dialectical method of scientific cognition, logical, comparative legal, as well as observation and other private methods of studying legal phenomena. The materials of the study were doctrinal sources, as well as Russian legislation of various historical periods. Results: as a result of the conducted research, the author identified the main features inherent in criminal procedure documents, as well as to propose their author's classification. The present study notes that there were no normative recommendations on the formation and systematization of criminal case materials, as well as such recommendations were not presented in the theory of criminal procedure law, which required further research of this issue. Discussion and Conclusions: basing on the study the author presents his classification of procedural documents.
