University autonomy and university teachers' academic freedom in modern Russia

The article discusses the concept of university autonomy versus the concept of academic freedom. The peculiarities of the relationship between different types of autonomy and academic freedom are presented within the context of today's higher education in Russia. The need for making an emphasis on university teachers' professional autonomy is proved.
