The paper discusses rationality as a fundamental characteristic of the existence and development of social systems from the perspective of postnonclassi-cal (universum) sociology. The author formulates the universum sociological theory of rationality revealing structural and dynamic properties of social systems. A minimum universum of social rationality is regarded as a theoretical model, which expresses a minimum number of characteristics essential to describe rationality of any social system.
