Бесплатный доступ

Tourism is one of the most characteristic attributes of globalization and modern mass consumption culture. Its active development gives rise to numerous overtourism and tourismophobia problems in different types of destinations. The article analyzes a number of factors contributing to the overtourism emergence, as well as possible measures to mitigate or eliminate its consequences. Various organizational and technical measures suggested by destination management organisations in overtourism situations include mainly restrictions and prohibitions. However, the elimination of overtourism essentials and consequences requires several economic, political and social solutions that would contribute to a mutually acceptable compromise, and ideally, to the harmony between the economic interests of tourism industry and the social, cultural and environmental interests of local communities. Sustainable tourism development approach aimed at reducing the negative impact of overtourism on local communities and raising the socially active and responsible consumers of tourism services are becoming increasingly important.
