In this article the author reveals the mechanisms and features of transition a preschool educational institution in the status of autonomous institution. The advantages of the transition in terms of gaining financial independence are considered, the risks and opportunities of functioning institution in this legal status are analyzed. The efficiency of management decisions is considered on specific examples, they promote further development of the institution.
